Hello there, we are so glad you want to help keep your Jelly looking their best (we know they’ll love you for it).
Just like any cherished companion, they need a little bit of care to stay soft and looking their marvellous best!
So, if your Jellycat has been on a grand adventure, had an unfortunate encounter with a jam sandwich, or simply needs a bit of freshening up, read on for our top tips on keeping your Jellies in tip-top shape!
How to care for your Jellycat
Spot Cleaning: The Quick Fix
Jellycats are known for their velvety softness, so the last thing we want is to compromise that super soft texture! If your friend has picked up a minor mark or a smudge (perhaps from a chocolatey high-five), a little spot clean will do the trick.
Simply grab a soft cloth, a dab of mild soap, and a splash of cool water. Gently blot (not scrub – Jellies have feelings too) the affected area and let them air dry naturally. No need for a hairdryer, tumble dryer or direct sunlight, as that can make their fur frazzle.
A Gentle Bath: When Things Get a Bit Messy
Sometimes, a Jellycat finds themselves in quite the predicament - muddy paws from garden adventures, a juice spillage, or a little too much excitement at a picnic. In these cases, a proper wash might be needed! Many of our products can be washed at 30 degrees in a washing machine but we generally recommend surface cleaning only, although a delicate hand wash can sometimes be necessary. If you need to handwash:
- Fill a basin with cool water and add a tiny amount of mild detergent
- Swish the water around and gently submerge your Jellycat (pretend they’re enjoying a spa day!)
- Gently massage any particularly grubby spots
- Rinse thoroughly with clean, cool water – no bubbles left behind!
- Gently squeeze (but not twist!) out excess water
- Lay them flat on a towel, reshape them into their best Jellycat self, let them dry naturally
Please avoid:
- Tossing them in the tumble dryer (it’s a bumpy ride, and they won’t appreciate it!)
- Ironing or dry cleaning
- Using hot water – heat can change their lovely softness
- Wringing them out – Jellies prefer a gentle squeeze!
The Brushing Ritual: Fluffing and Puffing
Over time, your Jellycat might look a little less fluffy than when they first arrived (it happens to the best of us!). If their fur starts looking a bit flat or ruffled in the wrong way, a light brushing can work wonders. Use a soft baby brush or a clean toothbrush and gently stroke in the direction of their fur to bring back that fresh, fuzzy feel. It’s a bit like a mini makeover…
Storage Secrets: Keeping Them Safe
While Jellycats love a good cuddle, there may be times when they need a little rest from all the love. When storing them away, be sure to:
- Keep them in a cool, dry place (no damp cupboards, please).
- Avoid squishing them under heavy books or other toys - no one likes a flattened tail!
- If they’ll be stored for a while, a breathable fabric bag is a wonderful way to keep them dust-free while still allowing them to breathe.
Love & Cuddles: The Most Important Bit!
At the end of the day, our Jellies are made for love. They’re here to be squeezed, snuggled and taken on adventures. A well-loved Jellycat might have a few worn patches or slightly floppy ears, but that just means they are having a great time.
Keep them close, whisper secrets into their ears, and let them be your forever friend.
Whether you’re the proud owner of a Bashful Bunny or a fun-filled Amuseable, a little bit of gentle care will ensure your Jellycat stays as huggable as the day they arrived. Now, go on – give them a squeeze and tell them how wonderful they are!
